About Us
The Integritas Institute has been developed under the auspices of the Newman Center, and in cooperation with the University of Illinois at Chicago. Programming for the academic year includes a lecture series devoted to ethics, given by practicing business and healthcare professionals and executives. We also sponsor regular discussion groups for those interested in exploring the ethical issues which arise in the course of their work or studies.
The Integritas Institute is interested in encouraging ethical deliberation about issues drawn from the experiences of business and healthcare professionals. As individuals, these leaders provide moral leadership through their personal and professional ethics. It is our belief that encountering real-world moral issues and the way in which practicing business and healthcare professionals address them will contribute to the students' development as future leaders themselves. We hope to enrich education in part by showing that many companies are committed to socially responsible business and healthcare practices, and what is more, that these practices are in the long run good for all. Such practices can be desirable apart from any legal obligation on the part of companies, and there is a rich tradition in the business community of private initiatives for the benefit of society. The Integritas Institute exists in part to foster a deeper appreciation of the ethical challenges that can face business and healthcare individuals, and to offer a forum for the constructive exploration of solutions.
